Bulging Disc FAQ
Hello this is Dr. Ron Daulton Jr. again and I want to welcome you back to this video series entitled Bulging Disc/Herniated Disc FAQ’s. This is actually the last video on the series of 20 videos that I’ve created that answer the most frequently ask questions about this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ: Is Degenerative Disc Disease The Same As A Bulging Disc?
Today’s video we’re going to talking about degenerative disc disease because a lot of people wonder is degenerative disc disease the same as a bulging disc? The answer is no, it’s not the same condition. However the treatments are very similar.
So let me first talk about what these conditions are and we’re talk about some different treatment things that you might be consider with these two condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ – What Bulging Disc Is?
A bulging disc is a condition where the disc is actually damage and the other wall of the disc is starting to bulge out. The disc has a strong outer covering and there’s a soft jelly in the center of it.
What can happen is that the outer covering can actually tear and become damage and the jelly will start to shift that weak area and that’s what creates the bulge on the wall of the disc.
The reason of this condition will probably manage because where the disc is tend to bulge is usually right in the nerves that coming out on your spine. Then it can apply pressure this nerve and cause a lot of pain for a person so that’s what a bulging disc is.
Bulging Disc FAQ – What Degenerative Is?
The Degenerative disc disease is a more advance condition and it’s actually a form of arthritis. What actually happen this condition overtime is the jelly in the center of the disc will start to lose the water content and starts to dehydrate. When that happens the disc will become shorter and so the bones above and the lower will start to come closer together.
One of the main functions of the disc is to prevent this bones touch in. Because when the bones rub in together that’s going to be painful for you.
So this is actually what your body does, the body will start to know that someones going on. So the body will start to add extra calcium onto the bottom and top edges of the bones where the disc is deteriorating and where to start to shorten. Basically the form of the calcium will trying to form a bridge and connect the two bones together refuse them so it prevents the bone to move against each other.
So what we see on x-ray or an MIR with this condition that we see bones start to stick out from bones and it cause a lot of pain for a person.
As I said these two conditions are different but the treatments are very similar. Here’s the only major different between the treatments for these two conditions. First of all, the bulging disc is generally respond very well to ice as far as pain relief is concern so ice is a good option for bulging disc but for the degenerative disc disease is a form of arthritis. The ice will actually feel worst so in that case you’d want to use dried heat.
So how do you know which one causing you most of the pain and how the way you treated?? Well, for bulging disc start with ice and see how the ice feels and if you start feel worst when you using ice discontinue the ice completely and then try the dried heat. If you feel better with the heat degenerative disc disease is the primary cause your pain and that’s what you need dealing with the addressing as far your treatments is concern.
The only other thing is important is that in my book and also the ecourse that I’ve provided which you can learn about a minute.
By doing so you can actually start to reverse the conditional little bit and gets some relief from that. So nutrition is a really big part of working with a degenerative disease if you have that condition.

Bulging Disc FAQ
Hello this is Dr. Ron Daulton Jr. again and I want to welcome you back to this video series entitled Bulging Disc/Herniated Disc FAQ’s. This is one of the series of 20 videos that I’ve created that answer the most frequently ask questions about this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 19: What If My Disc Is Ruptured – What Do I Do Then?
Today’s video we’re talking about ruptured disc and the question is what if my disc is ruptured and what can I do about it?
unfortunately this is one of the most serious types of herniated disc that a person can have and it’s very difficult to work with it clinically.
Which usually does not respond very well to conservative treatments. Most this cases requiring surgery at the end. Now a lot of time it will happen is you still want to go through conservative treatments even your disc is ruptured because there’s still a change you get better without having to go through a surgery.
Bulging Disc FAQ – The Conservative Treatments
But if you come through some of the conservative treatments such as using medication, pain injections, physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, if you’ve done number of different treatments and your just not getting anywhere with it then you really go ahead and see surgeon to find out of the surgery is the right option for you.
Because unfortunately, once you’ve got tp the point that the disc completely ruptured that’s much more serious problem that you need to adress. Sometimes it’s just going to work without having the surgery in that one type of case.
However, if you do have a surgery one of the most important things that you can do is after the surgery start working on getting the disc to heal.
That’s the biggest mistake of misconception people have about surgery and most cases what they’re going to do. They’re going to go in and removed the damage part of the disc and take out any type of the joint of the disc fluid and to the spinal cord area.
Bulging Disc FAQ – Most Serious Complications Of Any Surgery
One of the most serious complications of any surgery is cart tissur developing. What cart tissue does is weakends the area further. So it is really imortant after the surgery that you continue with certain exercises and other types of treatments in oder to make sure that cart tissue doesn’t develop and you continue having the disc heal for a long term.

Bulging Disc FAQ
Hello this is Dr. Ron Daulton Jr. again and I want to welcome you back to this video series entitled Bulging Disc/Herniated Disc FAQ’s. This is one of the series of 20 videos that I’ve created that answer the most frequently asked questions about this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 18: Will This Condition Ever Heal Completely?
Now one of the questions that I quite a bit for people is Will this condition ever heal completely? Most of the doctors tell you that it cannot. However, what I’ve found through my practice that this condition is can heal, it takes very long time though.
One of the biggest concerns that we have whenever you have a disc condition with any kind, it is the disc on the spine do not receive a lot of blood flowing through them. Your body normally depends on bring new nutrition and oxygen to an injured area for proper healing. If you don’t have a lot of blood going to a disc the you have the problems of healing.
Bulging Disc FAQ – Things You Might Not Aware Of
Now there’s one little trick that you might not be aware of and here what it is. The way that the disc that put together that they have a strong outer covering and they have jelly in the center. The jelly in the center is actually design to have nutrition and oxygen and store there in case happen to the disc.
So all we need to do is find a way to repenish those nutrients and oxygen within the disc in order to heal it more quickly. There’s exercises that I’m talked about in my book and my other programs that actually help a person due that.
Bulging Disc FAQ – How To Heal Completely The Bulging Disc?
So one of things I see people doing all the time that really a big mistake is they worked on getting relief and that can actually happen only a couple of week if you’re doing a right things.
But once the pain goes away they think that the problem is gone because they don’t feel anymore and they’re going right back to do the things before that was aggravating their condition and then it actually will come back.
The reason that happen is because they didn’t continue with the healing process after the pain went away. Certain things that you have continue doing for a long term to make sure that you get the best results and to make sure that you get the best healing that you possibly can with the condition.

Bulging Disc FAQ
Hello Dr.Ron Daulton Jr. I want to welcome you back in this series of video that I’ve been title Bulging Disc/Herniated Disc Faqs. This is a series of 20 videos that I put together that will answer the most frequently asked question about this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ – Should I Not Lift Anything?
Todays video we’re going to talk about Should I not lift anything? A lot of people wonder if they should be very careful about lifting. There’s a couple of rules you have to follow because you can’t just stop living your life. That’s the problem with this condition is that a lot of the things that we do a normal daily activities are going to affect the problem and cause it to feel worst.
So we talk about lifting in particular today. Here’s the main thing I want you to be aware of. I mentioned it before but we looking at now from different perspective.
The one movement that you have to be very careful of with this condition is bending and rotating at the same time. This is the matter of your problem in neck, lower back or your upper back because that type of position is going to make your spine a weakens to get yourself in a trouble.
Bulging Disc FAQ – Key Things You Should Aware Of
So when your lifting here’s they key things you want to be aware of.
1. Always lift something straight in front of you.
2. Never go to the left something off to the side of you because that’s the portion you bend and twist.
3. If you bended the knees and your something off the floor and your looking straight out of it it’s probably going to be Okay but if you have to bend and twist and you have to go and get something off to your side, now you have a problem with those.
Bulging Disc FAQ – It Is OK To Break The Activity While Healing?
So that’s one key thing that you need to keep in mind if your going to lift something. Now it would be ideal if you take a break of these activity while healing?
Well of course the answer is yes but if not realistic for you for example if the job requires you to lift and that’s the ley thing that you need to be aware of if you’re going to have lift something during your day.

Bulging Disc FAQ - Is It Better You Sit, Stand Or Lay Down?
Today we’re going to answer, Is it better yo sit, stand, or lay down? A lot of people want to know what is the best position because obviously the last thing that you want to do is to make the problem worst.
So here’s I want to tell you up front, the answer is different from each individual and a lot of it has do it what is comfortable. However, there are a few things that you need to consider with your position then will make easier to not only tolerate the pain but also to make sure your not re injuring yourself.
Bulging Disc FAQ – Sitting
So here’s the first thing that we talking about and that’s the sitting.Sitting is actually the one position where your spine is the weakess. Now this primarily applies to the lower back but the reason that this is the problem is because when your sitting position your lower back is naturally in a flax position if you think about it.
One of the worst thing that you can do with this problem if you have in a lower back is to bend and twist at the same time. Now if you’re already in a bent position on your sitting, all you need to do is turn to the side or something and now your in trouble.
Bulging Disc FAQ – Standing
Standing is fine as long as your comfortable with it. Let me give you a couple of ling down that might give you more comfortable. If your problem is in the lower back the two best position you can be is lying to your back with the couple of pillows stuff underneath knees to lift your legs some. That’s takes some of the pressure in the lower back.
Another position that makes you comfortable is lying to your side with the pillow between your knees to basically take some pressure of to feel this and also the lower back area.
Those two positions you might find more helpful. If your problem is in your neck the one thing that you need to be careful is when you lying down is not to lie on your stomach. When your lay on your stomach really happen is that you force to twist your hand one side to the other and you put a lot of strain on the neck when you do that. So that’s the one thing you need to be aware of.
So the bottom line answer to this question is all if this position is OK as long as you aware of those couple of things that we talked about and as long as your comfortable.
The only thing I want to tell is that you should never stay in one position for to long as you going to sleep at night. So if your sitting a period of time make sure you that every 30 minutes you get up and walk around for couple of minutes just to keep your back nice and loss.

Bulging Disc FAQ Video 15
This is Dr. Ron Daulton Jr. and I want to welcome you back to these series of videos that I’ve been entitled Bulging Disc/Herniated Disc FAQs. And this is a series of 20 videos that I’ve put together that will answer the most frequently asked questions regarding this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 15 – Most Frequent Questions Of People Suffering From Bulging Disc
And today’s video, we’re going to ask the question: Is it normal to not feel pain in my back, but to feel it in other places. I get that question a lot from people. And this is actually very normal. In fact, that what makes this condition very deceiving to a lot of doctors because most people think that if you have back problem, that you should feel it in your spine.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 15 – Apply Pressure
And that’s not always the case and the reason is because when you have a disc that is bulging or herniated, what it’s going to do is that it’s going to apply pressure on the nerves that are exiting spine. Now those nerves are really important because they control everything inside of your body.
And they travel out from your spine to all the different places of your body and they actually control what is happening. So for example, you may have a herniated disc in your lower back and you may not feel any low back pain but what you might feel is pain shipping down your leg or weakness or numbness in your leg.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 15 – Common Problems Occur For Neck Problem
If your problem is in your neck, you might start to feel pain going into your arms or numbness, tingling, sensation in your fingers, weakness in the hands or arms. So these are the most common symptoms that you might experience and that’s very common.
Is this really coming from my back or is it coming from my arm or whatever the case maybe? And the answer is yes. This can happen. It can happen where you don’t feel anything in your spine but you do feel in the other areas of the body.

Bulging Disc FAQ Video 14 – I’m Afraid To Go To A Chiropractor-What Should I Do?
And today’s video we’re going to answer: I’m afraid to go to a chiropractor-what should I do? And the reason I’ve put this because obviously in the previous video, I did recommend that you see for a chiropractor for this condition. However, if you remember what I recommend that you do is to see a chiropractor specializes in a technique called activator. And that’s very important with this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 14 – Doctor Usually Uses
And some of the traditional chiropractor techniques and put you in that position in order to adjust your spine. We don’t want that. The reason activator is so successful with this condition is because you’re laying on a table on your stomach and there’s no rotation or bending involved.
The doctor actually uses a very specific a hand held instrument, that’s very gentle in order to re-align the spine to remove pressure to the injured disc. So if you’re free to to a chiropractor, what I encourage you to do is just to make your first appointment.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 14 – The Best Things To Do
Go and meet the doctor, go through the initial examination, and the thing waht I see is that seeing a chiropractor is much a different experience than going to medical doctor typically. It’s usually more friendly, family-oriented type of an atmosphere.

This is Dr. Ron Daulton Jr. and I want to welcome you back in these video series entitled Bulging Disc/Herniated Disc FAQs. This is one video of a series of 20 videos that I’ve put together to answer the most commonly asked questions that people have about this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 12 – How Do I know If I Should Have Surgery?
And today’s video, we’re going to be answering the question: How do I know if I should have surgery? I’ve addressed this a little bit in earlier video but just want to add some couple of things here.
First of all, there only a few times that you absulotely consider surgery. And here’s what they are: first of all if your disc has gotten so bad, and actually ruptured which means that the outer covering of the disc is actually torn through and now the jelly in the center of the disc is actually leaking out of the disc into the spinal cord area. Now you really need to consider surgery in this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 12 - Conservative Treatments
That is difficult to work with and most of the times it will not respond to conservative treatments. Now your doctor may say to go still have to go through some of the conservative treatments to begin with just to see if they can help without going to the surgery.
Because obviously surgery is a very serious thing to consider with this problem. However if you don’t respond to those things then you do need to look surgery in that case.
The other thing is you need to look the symptoms. And here’s what as what doctors typically look for if you need to have surgery: If your problem is in your lower back, what we’re going to look at if you start to lose control of your bowel or bladder.
That’s very negative sign and serious and usually that will require you to have surgery. The thing that will look at is weakness. If you’re get to a point where you can’t stand on your own or if you start to have a lot of weakness on your lower body in this condition, then you need to start looking for surgery.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 12 – The Important Thing To Do
This is important that you need to address with your surgeon, you need to talk through with them because that their expertise and that’s what they’re doing.
My experience is general is that surgeons are very conservative. Most surgeons will not recommend surgery unless they really need it. It is a good idea to get a second opinion if you can because you want to make sure that you’re making the best possible for yourself.

Bulging Disc FAQ Video 13
Hello this is Dr. Ron Daulton Jr.again. I want to welcome you this video series entitled Bulging Disc and Herniated Disc FAQ’s. This video is one video on a series that put together for you answers the most frequently ask questions about this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 13: What Do You Think About Decompression Therapy?
Todays video we’re going to answer the question “What do you think about decompression?”. I want to specify exactly what I’m referring to here because depending on you who talk to they might think different things about what we’re talking about. For example, there’s a type of surgery called decompression that Doctors will use and that’s not what I’m referring to. What I’m referring to is called axel decompression therapy.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 13 – What Is Axel Decompression Therapy?
It is a special type of a table that actually pumps the disc and it causes the reverse the pressure within the disc so the bulge or the herniation will set back on where belong. This is the more conservative treatment that stands a lot of Chiropractic clinics nowadays, you might also this see in a physical therapy clinics and a lot of people wonder about it because typically this treatment is not covered by entrance and It can’t be very expensive so a lot of people wonder, it is worthy investment to go through with this treatment?
Now let me tell you what my personal opinion is, I actually used decompression in my clinic. However, I don’t believe that this would be the first option with this condition. Typically what you’re going to do is you want to go to series of other treatments first that are also more conservative and if you don’t respond this to those and the decompression would ne consider in most cases.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 13 – When Is Decompression Allowed To Use?
Few times that I would recommend the decompression right away and the primary time would be if you’re the point where your having to consider surgery. In that case I would strongly recommend that you consider going to decompression therapy program, only because in many cases that can help you avoid the surgery. But if you’re not in that point I would use this as a last resort that I would do.
So if you’re not going to a clinic wether doing an exercises with you immediately follow each treatment, you need to make sure you have a good exercise program that you’ll be doing at home immediately after this treatments.

Bulging Disc FAQ Video 11
Hello this is Dr. Ron Daulton Jr. and i want to welcome you back to this video series entitled: Bulging Disc/Herniated Disc FAQ’s. This is one video in a series of 20 videos that I’ve created for you to answer the most frequently asked questions that people have about this condition.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 11 – If I Feel Worse After Doing Exercises For My Condition, Should I Continue?
And in today’s video, we’re going to be asking the question: If I feel worse after doing exercises for my condition, should I continue? Now this question is a little bit tricky to answer and let me first give you the situation that commonly comes up.
Usually this happens when a person is going to a physical therapy, and the therapist has them doing a certain exercises for their condition. Now you may also be doing exercises on your home, so this is applied to any certain circumstances.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 11 – Things To Do First
But here’s basically the way I look at this, first, you need to identify the type of pain that you’re experiencing. Because what these exercises, one of the two things happen. You may actualy feel pain get worse. And that can happen. But the other thing that commonly happens is that you’re going to feel soreness from doing the exercise because your body is uesd doing them.
Soreness is nothing to be concerned about. you have to realize that your body is used to doing these exercises, so you’re going to have that most of the time. However the exercises that you choose do not cause worst pain. If that’s happening, then something is not right.
So here’s the solution! #1. If you’re doing this exercise in physical therapy, you need to address with the therapist that is working for you. Typically why I recommend in this case is that you take a break from the actual exercise, give yourself about a week off. Because you usually get to know which exercise is causing the problem for you.
AS the condition heals, you’ll be able the body up, and you’ll be able to the exercises that giving you problem at this point of time. Now if you still feel sore, what I encourage you to do is do not take a break from it but to lessen it.
So for example most of exercises that we’re going to be doing are certain stretches and certain activities and going to require you to either hold up a position for short period of time or you’re going to be repeating the exercise a number of times.
Bulging Disc FAQ Video 11- Recommended Regular Treatment
What I recommend that you do it’s a whole day exercise like stretch, you just want to hold it for at least amount of time basically. If you’re doing certain number of repetitions within exercise, cut back on the repetitions and do just a little bit, so that you have not to do it again the exercise.
And if you would like to receive all 20 of these videos that I’ve put together that answer your questions, all you have to do is go to bulgingdiscfaq.com, and sign-up.
